With the surge of new planning applications for solar panel farms in Ireland, An Bord Pleanala is calling for a strategic plan for their development.
FAC, representing the Irish Planning Institute, presented on the important role of retail in town vibrancy and vitality, regeneration and revitalisation at the National Town Centre Health Check Training Programme workshop. The event was held in Dublin Castle on the 16 March and was attended by Damien English, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Renewal.

The Chairman’s Foreword highlights that “we see from recent years that a shortage of affordable market housing in some areas has quickly transferred into pressure in other sectors, particularly the private and social rental sectors, while in other areas housing remains vacant for long periods”.
At the end of 2016, the Oireachtas passed the Planning and Development (Housing) and Residential Tenancies Act 2016 (PDRT 2016) which was introduced by the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government, Simon Coveney.
