FAC Facilitates +CityxChange Public Engagement Workshops in Limerick
This week, Limerick City and City Council hosted the ‘City Engage Week’, an initiative under +CityxChange, to enable communities to have an understanding and awareness on how they play an active role in leading the transformation towards Positive Energy Districts in +Limerick. +CityxChange is funded by the European Commission and coordinated by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) together with the Lighthouse Cities Trondheim and Limerick. FAC’s Data Analytics and Project Management experts lead the Monitoring and Evaluation Work Package, as well as facilitate public engagement as part of Work Package 4 with Limerick City, for this prestigious H2020 project.
Limerick partner Space Engagers organised an event, ‘Community Review – Sharing Laneways’, assisting communities in framing the challenges rather than the solution – identifying ‘what works?’, ‘what’s not working?’ and ‘what could work?’. FAC’s Research Team, Robert Farrell and Mallika Singh, participated in this interactive event by facilitating the public engagement and feedback collection aspects of the workshop.
The objective was to walk through the Georgian neighbourhood Laneways and identify issues that make passers-by reluctant to use specific lanes, identify positive aspects that can be used to enhance their usage and reflect upon what rectification would be required for those laneways to become more accessible, safe, and visually appealing. Also, innovative solutions were evoked to promote positive energy use from a citizen’s perspective. FAC’s team actively participated in the event along with providing observed and collected feedback to help evaluate and analyse response for prospective problem solving and solution development. The workshop was conducted in the Citizen’s Observatory, Fab Lab Limerick by Limerick City and City Council in association with Space Engagers.
Additionally, FAC are looking forward to launching the Community Dashboard that will visualise data submitted by the cities facilitating the achievement of the project’s KPIs.
