Constituency Dashboards for the Oireachtas
FAC’s ‘Constituency Dashboards’ were launched as a pilot project this week in Leinster House by the Oireachtas Library and Research Service. The dashboards serve as a data visualisation and analytical platform for TDs, Senators and supporting staff, in accessing a range of key census indicators relevant to their own constituencies.
The dashboards will enable Oireachtas Members and their staff to:
• Explore key data about their constituency in summarised form;
• Compare the variations across the constituency by assessing the data at Electoral Division (ED) level;
• Create their own selections of EDs within their constituency and get summary data for them;
• Save time on visualising census data: via maps and charts that automatically update to their selections.
The dashboards provide a window into 20 Census indicators spanning the following themes: demographics, economic status & work, households & housing, transport and education.
Working with the Library and Research Service, Future Analytics was commissioned to deliver this project given our past work in the online interactive dashboards space and our expertise in leveraging geospatial data analysis, data visualisation techniques and modelling spatial trends.
The Constituency Dashboards are planned for wider rollout later this year, and will be available to the public shortly thereafter.
