Future Analytics Consulting Help to Secure €1.3 million for Network of Digital and Innovation Hubs

Future Analytics Consulting Help to Secure €1.3 million for Network of Digital and Innovation Hubs

Future Analytics Consulting (FAC) has successfully supported three Irish local authorities secure funding of nearly €1.3 million.

Enterprise Ireland’s Regional Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) opened to applications earlier this year, with a total pool of up to €60 million made available to worthy projects capable of driving economic development, catalysing enterprise activity and enhancing job creation.

FAC was commissioned by the Upper Shannon Erne Future Economy Project – including Cavan, Leitrim and Longford County Councils – to support their bid. Their proposal was for a network of three Digital and Innovation hubs that would create locations for short- and long-term enterprise use and creative collaboration.

A robust feasibility study was prepared by FAC, illustrating the project’s potential to harness new enterprises and attract new investment and talent to the counties. FAC also assisted in the completion of the application form, outlining the project’s viability, its proposed operation and the required funding amounts.

The funding will be used to extend the existing hub in County Leitrim (The Hive in Carrick-on-Shannon) and to assist the delivery of new hubs in Counties Cavan and Longford. While three separate physical locations will be developed, it is the intention of the project to create a network, whereby critical mass can be secured, collaboration promoted and synergies created. Each hub is proposed to be a ‘centre of excellence’ (e.g. fab lab, high-speed internet hub, graphic design den), to share a better and broader range of facilities and promote expertise. Interest in the project was also shown by three higher-education institutions, with the possibility of forming links between industry and academia.

Future opportunities will include an expansion of the network as smaller satellite hubs throughout the counties, enhancing its reach and effectiveness.

The launch of a second call for REDF proposals is set for March 2018.
