Ehiaze Ehimen at Urban Resilience Forum
FAC Senior Research Coordinator Dr Ehiaze Ehimen attended the 7th Global Forum on Urban Resilience & Adaptation in Bonn, Germany on 6-8 July.
Dr Ehimen presented the GIS critical infrastructure mapping tool that Future Analytics Consulting has developed at the ‘Novel Data and Spatial Analysis Tools to Inform Resilience Planning and Urban Development’ session of the event.
The tool which was built as part of the RESILENS (Realising European Resilience for Critical Infrastructure) project is a component of a resilience management matrix and audit toolkit that is used to assess and score the resilience of essential services such as energy supplies and transport systems in urban environments, to identify and mitigate against risks.
The conference drew more than 300 participants from 46 countries, including researchers, academics and policy-makers from African, Asian and European cities. A wide range of topics related to urban resilience and adaptation were covered during the three-day event. Financing and planning for resilience and its incorporation into city development and assessment tools were explored as well as the concept of inclusive governance in relation to partnering communities.
