INDICATE Demonstrates Urban Planning Tool in Dundalk
INDICATE, a three-year project to develop an interactive decision support tool for urban planning and design held an event in Dundalk last week to demonstrate the tool to an audience of 50 stakeholders, from SEAI, Louth County Council, Trinity College Dublin, Integrated Environmental Solutions, and Dundalk Institute of Technology among others.
FAC has been integral to several aspects of the project such as software development and the collation of data, and has taken the lead in the development of the Sustainable Urban Indicators which make up the tool.
INDICATE aims to ease the transition towards smart cities by providing an interactive decision support tool for urban planning and design.
According to some estimates cities account for 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions yet they only take up only 2% of the Earth’s land mass. INDICATE aims to reduce energy consumption in urban environments and increase sustainability by providing recommendations about increasing the efficiency of existing systems and the introduction of new technologies.
