FAC was commissioned by Meath County Council to prepare the Meath County Housing Strategy 2013-2019 to form part of the Meath County Development Plan 2013-2019.
The contract for work was extensive and included a demographic and market assessment, which enabled understanding of recent activity in the wider housing market and population dynamics, the full analysis of housing demand and projected future housing supply, the evidence-based formulation of housing objectives and strategy, in addition to a significant level of stakeholder consultation and presentation activities. The Housing Strategy was subject to public consultation alongside the overall Draft Development Plan, and, due to the evidence-led approach utilised by Future Analytics Consulting, did not require any amendments over the course of the review period.
The project encompassed an assessment of available social and economic data on the county, in addition to an overview of recent policy changes and its implications for the county. Population trends, housing targets and land supply were all set out, using the latest available data and with regard to regional planning guidelines (RPG) and core strategy projections. The issue of affordability and the private rented sector was investigated alongside household incomes and household prices, to ensure that social housing and housing needs for persons with special requirements were given due regard.
