FAC was appointed to conduct a Socioeconomic Impact Analysis of a proposed student housing scheme in Dublin 1.
The objectives of the project were to:
The socioeconomic review comprised the derivation of a methodology to identify overconcentration of student accommodation; analysis of census, economic and property value data for the area; and an examination of the changing planning context for student accommodation, in both policy and the review of planning permissions in the city. The findings of the research were benchmarked against international best practice in policy and delivery.
The project determined that there was sufficient demand for student housing in Dublin and that the proposed development would not result in an overconcentration of students in the subject area. The community engagement process allowed the community to be involved in the development process and established relationships with community representatives and groups and the project developers.
