Client: Weston Aviation Authority (WAA)
FAC is currently engaged in the provision of multiple planning services for Weston Airport, Lucan, Co. Dublin. A key aspect of the services provided was the preparation of a Masterplan which encompasses concept mapping, thematic land uses, appropriate data analysis, projections and supporting rationale. This Masterplan is the first initiative of its kind in the 75-year history of Dublin Weston Airport. By their nature, airports are dynamic and changing businesses and this plan represents both a considered response to recent economic conditions and a commitment from new owners to pursue the airport’s development in a coordinated, inclusive and sustainable manner.
The primary objectives of the Masterplan were to: Provide a voluntary Masterplan which conforms with Irish Aviation Policy; To engage with relevant stakeholders, including community and resident representative groups, local authorities and the Irish Aviation Authority; Identify any operational amendments and improvements, in conjunction with some limited physical alterations, which may be required to make best use of existing facilities to 2030; Recognise the issues surrounding sustainability and climate change and look to formulate strategies to ensure that the operations of the airport can comply with best practice in these areas; Secure an economically sustainable future for the airport while minimising the effects on the local community and the wider environment; and Act as a constructive basis to inform policy in the Kildare and South Dublin County Council Development Plans.
In addition to the alignment of the Airport Masterplan, FAC is also providing assistance with the preparation of a complimentary Business Plan. For more information please download the project sheet below:
