FAC Team are Tough Mudders
There was mud, sweat and tears in Oldcastle, Co. Meath as FAC staff members took part in the Tough Mudder challenge last Saturday, July 9th.
The team for the gruelling endurance event comprised Stephen Walsh, Conor Dowling, Daniel Moody, Eoin Whelan and James Sweeney of FAC and [their tag rugby teammate] Kevin Carty.
Ploughing their way through the ten-mile course, these hardy lads tackled obstacles like the ‘Mud Mile‘, the freezing cold water of the ‘Arctic Enema’ and a quarter pipe slicked with mud and grease at ‘Everest’, to arrive at the finish line in under four hours.
The survivors have assured us that they are ‘unbowed and unbroken’ but were still finding mud in their ears two days later : )
Tough Mudder challenge events revolve around teamwork, and the guys proved at Loughcrew Adventure Centre that it took more than the lure of a free sweatband and t-shirt to get them to the end of the race.
The first Tough Mudder challenge was held in the USA in 2010 and since then more than two million people worldwide have taken part.
We’re very proud of our gang of FAC tough mudders, and look forward to their next challenge!
