Prof. William Hynes Presents on ‘Analytics of the City’ at Predict Conference 2019
This week, Prof. William Hynes, Managing Director of Future Analytics Consulting Ltd., presented at the Predict Conference 2019 on ‘Analytics of the City’. He illustrated how advanced technologies with the strategic use of data and connectivity can enable cities to become ‘Smart Cities’. Predict, Europe’s leading data conference, allows leaders and innovators in the fields of data science, technology, artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to discuss innovatory developments, unconventional ideas and disruptive technology contributing to the discourse of accomplishing sustainable change.
Drawing on his extensive experience with leading significant critical infrastructure planning and development projects, and providing expert advice to public and private sector clients in areas of strategic spatial planning, infrastructure planning among others, Prof. William Hynes talked about tackling upcoming physical and social challenges faced by growing cities through data-driven and sustainable planning techniques. He communicated key strategies to leverage the synergised impact of data analytics and connectivity to enrich the Smart City outlook.
These insights come in light of FAC’s active involvement as consortium partner in +CityxChange, a smart city project funded by European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme in call for ‘smart cities and communities’. The aim of this project is to develop, experiment and integrate smart positive energy solutions to achieve sustainable urban ecosystems with zero emissions and establish 100% renewable energy city regions by 2050. FAC’s Data Analytics and Project Management experts lead the Monitoring and Evaluation Work Package, as well as facilitate public engagement as part of Work Package 4 with Limerick City.
As FAC’s service delivery include collection, analysis and presentation of data to develop innovative, evidence based and sustainable solutions to drive positive change, +CityxChange is a key project to catalyse energy efficiency, sustainable approaches and continuous monitoring and evaluation of new intervention to bring that transformation. FAC are looking forward to launching the Community Dashboard that will visualise data submitted by the cities facilitating the achievement of the project’s KPIs. FAC is also an active consortium partner in a suite of other critical infrastructure resilience and planning projects.
