CIF Digital Construction Summit
How is the construction industry coping with COVID-19 and the lockdown?
FAC is to weigh in on this conversation next month by participating in the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Digital Construction Summit.
The summit will take place on July 7th with various presentations and roundtables from 9:30am through to 2:00pm. (GMT).
Introductory information on the event can be viewed at www.digitalconstruction.ie.
Our Managing Director, Prof. William Hynes is participating as a panelist in the session titles No pain, no gain: why cultural transformation is key to achieve real change. Topics to be deliberated include:
- Working Remotely: Getting back to full productivity
- Productivity in construction – the workforce of the future and what are the social trends? and
- What does the future hold for our construction workforce?
For most leaders in the construction sector, the entire industry supply chain must embrace a radical cultural shift in order to fully achieve the much-needed digital and technological transformation. Technology is making huge innovative leaps with advanced systems such as level 3 BIM (Building Information Modelling) and other applications whose potential cannot be fully met without real collaboration along the value chain. For an industry often described as old-fashioned and afraid of change, this transformation represents a steep challenge. How can construction companies build leadership capability to successfully bring about and command this change?
William Hynes will discuss FAC’s case studies, the recently published “Economic analysis of productivity in the Irish construction sector” and our successful European Commission-funded projects such as BIMcert.
