Dublin Luas Cross City project expected to open December 2017

Categories: Development

The Dublin Luas Cross City project is expected to open in December 2017.

The Luas Cross City project will connect the North City with the existing two Luas Lines resulting in a new Green Line running from Broombridge to Brides Glen. Thirteen new stops will be provided on the Luas Cross City, including Broombridge, Phibsborough, Broadstone, Dominick, O’Connell GPO and Trinity.

Future Analytics Consulting Ltd. (FAC) undertook a detailed economic analysis and profiling of the Luas Cross City catchment area. The analysis examined the added value of the scheme in its catchment, based on an increased density of residential and commercial development possible, potential uplift in property values due to the presence of the light rail infrastructure, and wider economic benefits such as environmental improvements and the opening of additional regional accessibility.

Overall, the underlying demographic, socio-economic and commercial trends point to continued investment in the catchment area, with a strong underlying requirement for housing and employment opportunities for the existing population within this area of the city. Wider connectivity and the proximity to the city centre will further add to the attractiveness of the area.
