Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Local Economic and Community Plan
Future Analytics Consulting coordinated and prepared the community aspects the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Local Economic and Community Plan 2016 – 2021 which was launched on 28th April, 2016.
The company’s involvement comprised a number of key stages in the plan including a full analysis of the socio-economic baseline and an extensive consultation process.
The creation and implementation of a Local Economic and Community Plan is part of the DLR council’s commitment to economic and community development within the county and forms an important part of the Government’s ‘Putting People First’ strategy.
On launching the plan, An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Cllr Barry Saul, said ‘It is important that people have a say in shaping the communities in which they live and in how the county should develop in the future. Employment expansion, attracting new investment, increasing tourism, and developing an enterprise-friendly environment within the county are key priorities of the plan. Similarly, a large number of actions have been identified that will improve access to services and amenities, transportation and infrastructure, and will provide support to families, the marginalised, older citizens, and local communities”.
The plan identifies the goals, objectives and most importantly, clear and measurable actions that will underpin economic growth and community improvements over the period 2016-2021.
Consultation was carried out with the full range of relevant bodies, including the general public in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown region, and the Public Participation Network. Thematic workshops were held with principal stakeholders, individual meetings with key delivery agencies, workshops with the community and voluntary sector, and ongoing consultation with the county’s Local Community Development Committee and the council’s management.
FAC worked closely with the project’s Advisory Steering Committee and coordinated with the preparation of the complementary Economic Plan for the county. The Economic and Community elements were developed together to form the final output, the Local Economic and Community Plan.
Director of Economic, Community and Cultural Development, Dearbhla Lawson, said, “We are satisfied that this comprehensive plan reflects the primary issues of individuals, businesses and communities across the county. It is our priority now to proceed with implementing the actions identified in the plan, and help realise our ambition to provide a high quality of life and well-being to all who live, work, do business, invest in and visit Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown”.
