Economic and Enterprise Development Strategy for Lanesborough/Ballyleague
Future Analytics Consulting (FAC) has been appointed by Longford and Roscommon County Councils to prepare an Economic and Enterprise Development Strategy (EEDS) for Lanesborough/Ballyleague. The area is currently undergoing the Just Transition process with the imminent closure of Lough Ree Power Station. The project aims to drive forward a Strategy for sustainable economic growth and job creation in the short, medium and long term while also providing a framework to build upon the current offerings in Lanesborough/Ballyleague. Earlier this month, Dr. Aoife Doyle, Associate with FAC, was invited on to Mary Claire Grealy’s programme on Shannonside Radio to discuss the forthcoming Strategy and the ongoing community and stakeholder consultation. More details can be found here:
FAC have undertaken a significant number of socio-economic studies and related community engagement exercises for towns and villages across Ireland including Health Checks for towns in County’s Carlow, Clare, Westmeath, Cork and Kilkenny. In addition, FAC was recently shortlisted for a 2020 National Planning Award by the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) for work on a nationally significant project for the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) entitled ‘Rejuvenating Ireland’s Small Town Centres – A Call to Action’. FAC are thus acutely aware of the issues and challenges facing communities in rural Ireland and of the need to diversify local economies to create employment and halt population decline.
