Future Analytics Consulting Ltd joins EU Proposal Team on Regenerating Rural Areas through Heritage

FAC joins EU proposal team on regenerating rural areas through heritage

This week Future Analytics Consulting Ltd had the pleasure of hosting a two day proposal meeting on Horizon 2020 Call Topic, ‘Cultural heritage as a driver for sustainable growth’.

The call topic recognises the demand for testing and experimenting with innovative pathways for rural regeneration, specifically using cultural heritage (both tangible and intangible) as a driver for sustainable growth. Proposals prepared in response to this call topic must address a range of challenges facing rural areas which are resulting in unemployment, disengagement, depopulation, marginalisation or loss of cultural and biological diversity.

Almost 20 professionals from across Europe attending this brainstorming style meeting to share ideas on innovative actions that can harness rural heritage as a powerful economic, social and environmental catalyst for regeneration, sustainable development and economic growth. The proposed project will adopt a ‘Role Models’ and ‘Replicators’ approach which will involve the transfer of knowledge and expertise from rural areas that have successfully pursued heritage led regeneration to other rural areas in Europe which will seek to replicate their success with the support of project appointed mentors, and through the use of models, mechanisms and tools developed by the project team.

The proposal is being coordinated by University College Dublin (UCD) and comprises expert partners from the academic, private and public sectors (municipality and rural development agencies). The proposal will continue to be developed over the summer months and will be submitted to the EU for evaluation in early September 2017. Successful proposals will receive funding of up to a maximum of €14 million to deliver the project over a 5-year period. In joining this proposal team, FAC brings extensive experience in the preparation and coordination of large scale EU funded research projects.
